Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, has shed more light on why the proposed plan to reopen all secondary school to resume for forthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) was cancelled.Adamu while speaking at a press briefing after the Federal Executive council meeting today 29th July 2020 said the Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba was misquoted by the Nigerian media.
He also revealed that It was the Sub-Saharan examination body that concluded to conduct exams within the region despite the disapproval from the Federal Government. Adamu reveals that no school is expected to resume on Tuesday, 4 August or any time soon.
He reinstated that he does not mind that Nigerian student loose a complete session than getting infected to the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.Adamu also advised state government who have concluded plan to reopen schools to backtracks from the proposed plans.
Naija News recalls that the Federal Government’ had earlier directed students in exit classes across the country to resume on Tuesday, 4 August 2020 for revision classes ahead of their forthcoming examinations.
